Learning about the Past: During my time in Cambodia, I took a journal with me to write down things that I considered important to know, places I visited, and people I met.

Khmer food has a mixture of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy! I’ve enjoyed the many different flavors. Here are some dishes I’ve tried so far!

Two of my favorite worship songs that we learned during our time at UofN Battambang! The pronunciation was written by some of our students and it was so helpful to have during worship times and community events.

One of our team members from School of Worship needed to go to the embassy in the capital of Cambodia, so both of us ended up traveling to Phnom Penh during a school week. With no knowledge of Phnom Penh (except the first night I arrived from the airport in June), I started to research and get information of how to get there, and what kinds of things we needed to do.

It can be hard to understand what a program called SOW “School of Worship” actually means! But it’s okay, I can share a few insights as a student and now serving as a staff this year.

It’s been 2 weeks in since I got here to Battambang and after a few years without traveling, it’s been amazing to learn how to do life here.

“Why are you serving in Hong Kong? You should go serve somewhere else!” I come across this question a lot! I thought of writing down the “why”!

A few testimonies from the last months of semi-lockdown in Hong Kong. Serving at garbage collection points, visiting the elderly, and meeting people on the minibus.

“What do you do in Hong Kong? Do you work for a church? Do you earn a salary? Hmmm, the best way I can answer these questions is like this: I work for an international missions organization called “Youth With A Mission”. For short, we call it “YWAM” (pronounced “WHY-wham”).

Yeah, COVID isn’t going away any time soon. Reading the news and seeing titles like “COVID will be called an endemic” kind of gave me a sense of relief but at the same time, calling it something different is not actually making it any better.

Our organization YWAM Harbour City has been running a 6-month program called DTS (Discipleship Training School), even in the midst of the pandemic!

Anxiety can creep up on us even when we don’t notice it at all. It happens to me quite often. I’ll be emotionally doing well, I’ll be feeling calm, happy, and then suddenly, anxious thoughts can come into my mind.

A few friends have asked me how God can use careers, gifts, and talents – this has been my personal experience!

It’s taken me a while to update a new blog post, but today I just felt like writing about something. Honestly, the thought of staffing a DTS was a bit nerve-wrecking a couple of months ago. I know there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes, and it’s not an easy role. Dedicating your life to walk with DTS students for half year is a BIG commitment. It’s not a 9 to 6 job, it’s much more than that.

Understanding the history of Hong Kong and China has really opened my eyes new things from the culture I was raised in at home.

I’ve come to realize lately, the way I was “spending time” with Him had grown very superficial and rushed. It came to a point (literally a couple days ago) that I had to stop myself and reflect on what I was feeling about when I would spend time with Jesus. I needed to admit that I was in a dry season even though I’ve been serving full-time this whole year.

It’s been ONE whole year since I moved to Hong Kong and God has been teaching me incredible things in my time here. This special post is a bit longer than what I usually write!
