Creativity and Missions
First of all, what is missions?
“The gospel is the message God is using in history to save and set apart a people for himself in the church from every nationality, language, and ethnicity. Missions, then, is what carries this gospel to all the nations. It’s the job of the church that’s between Christ’s first coming and his return.
A few more articles on what missions is:
What is a missionary?
A Christian missionary is a person who dedicates his or her life to fulfilling the Great Commission: to preach the Gospel, baptizing and making disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).
What is my role in the great commission?
I am a full-time staff with Youth With A Mission Harbour City. We focus on evangelism, training, and mercy ministries in Hong Kong and nations in Asia.
My personal vision is to encourage believers in all nations to love Jesus, embrace their God-given calling and creativity to build His kingdom on earth.
What does this vision look like in a practical way?
I have a heart to build God’s kingdom by using creativity to reach out to the Chinese and international communities in the nations and mobilizing young people into missions.
How do we use creativity in missions?
As I’ve continued to discover more of my giftings, I’m able to use different skills to bring Biblical truth, encouragement, and share about God’s character and nature through creative arts.
Creativity reflects God’s beauty. As we are created in His image when we create – we are imitators of God, and it’s something we should pursue as believers, as children of God.
A few creative expressions that I use are design, illustration, writing, photography, and video. Below are some ways that I’ve used creativity and been involved with training, evangelism, and mercy ministries in the YWAM family!
I am serving as a full-time missionary in Hong Kong and supporting pioneering ministries in the region of Asia.
MISSIONS TRAINING: In the last few months, I’ve been able to facilitate online training on the topic of “Creativity in Worship” in Myanmar. In the past, I’ve been part of the staff team for YWAM 6-month training programs in missions: Discipleship Training School and School of Worship.
OUTREACHES: focuses mainly on reaching youth, serving the vulnerable and marginalized, facilitating worship in churches and in strategic places outside of the church building, and encouraging believers to serve in missions and make disciples of all nations.
SOCIAL MEDIA: I currently serve with the creative media department which overseas social media and online platforms to share about YWAM ministries and invite youth and people of all ages into God’s mission movement. With strategic posts using reels, we are able to share God’s story online!
